At this time of year, it is not unusual to look for a different kind of wardrobe. Summer is here and strategic dressing, both fashionable and practical is quite normal in the workplace. The weather has presented us with clear skies, blazing sun, increasingly high temperatures and plenty of chances for warm-weather dressing. As the seasons change these opportunities to not overheat in the workplace do offer some challenges too.

Straight away there is the time taken commuting to work, with the task to remain cool and comfortable on the move a necessity. Feeling relaxed and looking chic comes at a price but there are many different ways of achieving this out there in the marketplace.  Finding the best workwear in the office is tricky at the best of times, but when it is sticky and boiling outside and the air conditioning isn’t working, this becomes a hazard to navigate let alone a fashion option.

Inspiration to find your favoured option for summer wear can come from the internet, browsing through the shops or even being motivated to select by what you see around you. The street style look is often one to stimulate the imagination. Recommended is a lightweight linen fabric. One that you may end up focusing on is easy-to-style co-ords, one or two pieces in case rain falls, but most importantly, wardrobe basics to make dressing a breeze.

A Co-ord can’t be beaten when it is hot outside. It makes the job of dressing in the morning a smooth process and they can be smart, reliable and chic and they create the impression of appearing polished while actually being unfussy and practical. Extra accessories including some simple jewellery and sunglasses can only add to the look.

A regular at almost any time of year and practical too is the classic white shirt. This is sartorial salvation particularly when you are in the office and not required to wear a specific uniform. Accompanying this could be a pair of jeans if regulations allow, a pair of trousers or capri pants, which conjure a casual ensemble. Alternatively, you can opt for an off-white-toned skirt for a polished office look.

A two-piece waistcoat suit is always a warm weather winner but there is an option to wear calf length Bermuda shorts if office regulations permit. They are cooler and somewhat chic and coupled with heeled flip-flops make for a minimalist aesthetic.

It may seem obvious but a gingham maxi-dress with a pair of flats may be the option you have been looking for when all other choices have been exhausted.

Also a salvation is the jeans and a nice top combination which is again determined by rules of the working environment. It can be updated by a pair of statement balloon-style poplin trousers.

Capris have become a staple among the fashion set once again. They present a Parisian chic look but also offer a high degree of comfort. Put them together with a billowing top and a pair of sandals for a complete look for in the office.

As there are usually five or six days in the working week dreams of sipping a cool spritzer or cold beer can be coupled with that pleasant feeling of comfort to let the hours fly by.
