  • If there is a difference between 2005 and today, it is in the team psychology. The Australian side in 2005 were seasoned campaigners who, for some reason, fell apart when under pressure. This years team is full of novices. There isn’t the expectation to turn up and score 500 as was the case in 2005. They know they have to work for every run and for every wicket.

There is a touch of the sameness about the English team, however. One go to bowler and one or two batsmen firing. The problem is, out go to bowler is under threat of breaking down anytime and as we saw in the third test, when he isn’t firing, we struggle to get Australian wickets.
