The sun is just setting. Soon darkness would envelope the beautiful countryside.
Sun which is as undisturbed as the countryside has no heart to go for a sleep. But then the unforgiving darkness soon shrouds the sky and the sun succumbs to a reluctant slumber. Gradually, the floating dreams of the sun fill the chilling air of the countryside with a mysticism that awakened the earth's eerie spirit.
Blissfully unaware and lighted by the love in her heart, the young countess quietly leaves her manor towards the open fields beyond her family's estate. The shining moonlight guides her path as she sprints impatiently towards the edge of the flowing brook. She sat there beside the brook gazing at the reflection of the moon dancing rhythmetically on the surface of the waves. It was by the side of this very brook they had first met...all she had memories of past,a few moment of togetherness, and a lot of hope for the future. She knew, her man would come back one day.She remembered reading Ezra Pound,a small lump she felt in...  ...  more

My contribution then becomes more of a translation/interpretation of English to English. Advocating reading as a means to improve language skills is one thing but when I look at the reading material available, the material itself seems somehow 'lacking'.
An idea has come up which I would like to put to WC members, as I believe it has merit and needs to be developed. What if audio is used to compliment the reading (so that the reader hears how the words are pronounced)? And if the story has sound bits embedded that also 'explain' the words, and photos or sketches to confirm the understanding...eg. Once upon a time there was a cricket (sound of a cricket is heard and a picture 'pulses' to emphasise/clarify understanding) How this can be done is what I am in...    less

When you use the word child/children, it is best to stick with it, to change halfway to using 'kid/kids' is not necessary (kids are goat children). You have, however, managed to let your story flow and progress naturally and I agree with everyone else - great to read a 'war' story with a positive message.

Helen Thanks for noticing BK - yes, I am rural with limited connectivity and bandwidth till I return to the city for more work. If the signal is not strong enough, FaceBook and WC just do not open. As you can see, I keep trying...and have some small successes.

BK It was a wonderful read. In the last decade or so we have all slowly moved more and more into virtual world with minimal interaction with the real world. I really wonder if there would be any real world a century or so later..

Amruta I like the topic that you have chosen, touches a chord with a lot of people. The world is developing so much in terms of technology, but only for some. And the technology has influenced the simplicity of life! Loved the narration :)
